nocturnes
These ruru stand in quiet observation. Formed in black stoneware, they emerge from darkness with the steady gaze of watchful eyes.
In Greek and Roman tradition, the owl was associated with wisdom, judgement, and the rare ability to see clearly in darkness. A watcher of the night, it became a symbol of perception beyond ordinary sight.
Ruru embodies contemplation, vigilance, and the enduring presence of the wild. These works are less portraits of birds than reflections on attention itself.
Stoneware, on an oak base.
Approximate height of ruru: 220mm.
Base height varies.
